Initial Oral Examination

Oral Examination

At Parkway Dental, Dr. Noel Shen and his staff believe that proper teeth cleaning crucial part of good oral hygiene and should involve the removal of dental plaque from teeth with the intention of preventing cavities, gingivitis, and other infections. At Parkway Dental we ensure that our treatment complements your current oral hygiene regime. Our dental hygienists can remove hardened deposits not removed by routine cleaning, and polish your teeth to ensure a glowing picture perfect smile.

Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, charting, periodontal probing, diagnoses and treatment recommendations. We will also take x-rays, which includes the panoramic x-ray for proper diagnosis of the anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth as well as the bite-wing x-ray series for proper diagnosis of proximal decay of posterior teeth.

Most dental hygienists recommend having the teeth professionally cleaned every six months. More frequent cleaning and examination may be necessary during treatment of dental and other oral disorders. Routine examination of the teeth is recommended at least every year. This may include yearly, select dental X-rays. See also dental plaque identification procedure and removal.
